Cornices for homes from the turn of the last century

Our ornate cornice moulding is full of the period character you would typically find in homes from the 19th and early 20th centuries. With its traditional design, it captures the style of interiors from this era – ideal for renovations where you want to highlight the history of the house.

This is one of our larger models designed for rooms with generous ceiling heights. It really comes into its own in the drawing rooms of 19th or early 20th century residences and manor houses.

Here, the classic tooth-like dentil pattern is used, with small rectangular blocks placed at regular intervals along the edge of the moulding. This decorative element has its origins in ancient architecture, where it was often used to adorn temples and monuments. Architects rediscovered this style during the Renaissance, and dentils featured particularly prominently in Italian architecture. The dentil pattern then had a strong influence on Georgian and Neoclassical styles during the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly in the United Kingdom and the United States, where it was incorporated into cornices and other architectural details.

This product is from our Premium Selection. It is made of polyurethane, a material resistant to both impact and moisture, which makes it versatile and durable. The unadorned surface brings out the finer details and is suitable for both wet areas and outdoor environments.

In many period properties, the original mouldings have unfortunately been lost through previous renovations. With this carefully crafted cornice, you can bring that authentic character back into the space.

Suitable for:

  • Town houses from the turn of the last century
  • Manor houses and villas from the late 19th and early 20th centuries
  • Renovating period properties where original features have been lost
  • Rooms with high ceilings where classic details take centre stage
